A recent study showed that approximately 60% of Golden Retrievers will die of cancer. Moreover, approximately 400 out of 1000 dogs will develop cancer and close to 200 out of 1000 cats will develop feline leukemia.

The Kali's Wish Cancer Foundation will conduct or initiate research programs that focus on the following areas:

Genetics & Breeding: What breeding protocols are being practised around the world and what impact do in-breeding, line-breeding and out-crossing play on genetic predisposition to cancer?

Conventional Medical Treatments: What therapy programs exist that have shown to be effective in treating cancer and other auto-immune diseases? What is the true reason our pets develop cancer? What do we need to understand about the causes of cancer in pets so that we can protect our pets from developing cancer?

Environment: What environmental culprits contribute to the development of cancer in our pets? What true effect does chemical spraying, pesticides, herbicides, sun exposure, etc., have on our families?

Family History: Is there a genetic predisposition within family bloodlines that cause a higher incidence of cancer?

Immunology: What can be done to keep our pets immune systems strong to defend against the development of disease? What role does immunity play in the prevention of disease?

Nutrition: What role does diet play in the prevention of disease? Does a nutritionally-poor commercial diet depress the immune system and make our pets more susceptible to disease? What is optimal nutrition to keep our pets strong and health?

Supplementation: What supplements should our pets be receiving to keep them strong? Does a commercial diet provide all of the daily requirements or is supplementation essential?

Vaccination: What do annual vaccinations to to our pet's immune system? Is is necessary to routinely vaccinate all pets and what are the long term effects of routine vaccinations?

Detection: What are the early signs of impending disease in our pets? What can be done to regularly check for potential disease development? What are the early signs of cancer?

Conventional Medicine: What currently exists to conventionally treat cancer in pets? What are the effects of some of these treatment programs? What other treatment programs not currently being offered to pet owners should we be considering?

The Kali's Wish Cancer Foundation is interested in contacting individuals or groups in the veterinarian, breeder or genetic communities who are currently conducting or interested in conducting research for any of the above focus areas. Please contact us for further information.
